Fat is the most calorie-dense food you can eat, so limiting the absorption of some of it with alli and eating reduced calorie, lower-fat meals can help you lose weight. Here’s how:

  • to digest the food you eat, your body releases natural enzymes - there are different enzymes that break down proteins, carbohydrates and fats.

A balanced diet includes carbohydrates, proteins and fats, which is why the recipes featured in the alli program includes all three of these important food groups.

    Examples of proteins

Meat, fish, pulses (chick peas and beans), cheese and eggs. Some of these are higher in fat than others. Lean, skinless meat or fish is the best option. Be aware that cheese is a fatty protein and more likely to produce diet-related treatment effects than skinless chicken.

    Examples of carbohydrates

Pasta, bread, rice and potatoes. On their own they are relatively low in fat, it’s what you put with them that you have to watch. Choose tomato based sauces or salsas, not the creamy, dairy variety.

    Examples of fats

    Butter, margarine, cooking oil.

  • alli only works on the enzymes that digest fat, so proteins and carbohydrates aren’t affected and your body can still absorb these nutrients.
  • alli works in a unique way by attaching itself to some of the digestive enzymes that break down fat. This stops some of the fat you eat from being digested and absorbed, so the unabsorbed fat passes naturally out of the body in your stools without contributing to weight gain.
